Novak Djokovic reveals Andy Murray took his household on a ski journey and funnily expressed hope that his new coach stays wholesome forward of the Australian Open.

On Tuesday, the world No. 7 performed his first singles match of the 12 months after beating Rinky Hijikata 6-3 6-3. 

When the Serb introduced Brisbane as his first match of 2025, there was hope his partnership with Murray might be began there. 

However the newly retired Briton elected to not come so their debut as a participant/coach duo will not come sooner than the Australian Open.

Nonetheless, to ensure that that to occur, the previous two-time Wimbledon champion should keep away from any critical accidents throughout the ski journey. 

Djokovic: I hope Murray does not get injured

“He is actually skiing at the moment. He has a family skiing trip. Sending my love to all the Murray family. I hope he doesn’t get injured skiing before he comes to Melbourne!” the 37-year-old mentioned.

“We are communicating daily so I’m excited to have him in my corner. For 20-plus years he has been across the net, for the first time ever we are on the same side of the court so it should be fun in Melbourne.”

In the meantime, Djokovic delivered a fairly routine efficiency towards Hijikata.

After beginning the match with an early break and a 3-0 lead, he simply held on to his serve for the remainder of the primary set.

Within the second set, the previous world No. 1 claimed back-to-back breaks within the seventh and ninth video games to complete the match on a four-game profitable run and get the job carried out in two units.

In his subsequent match, Djokovic faces his outdated rival Gael Monfils. 

The Serb owns a dominant 19-0 head versus the Frenchman and he’s completely a giant favourite to win their Brisbane round-of-16 match.
