Iga Swiatek made a remark that she most likely regrets now because the Australian Open crowd handled her with loud boos after she acknowledged that Sydney has higher espresso outlets than Melbourne. 

Off the court docket, the Polish tennis star likes to loosen up by ingesting some espresso and studying books. 

In the meantime, Melbourne’s espresso spots are broadly thought to be top-of-the-line on this planet. 

So after Swiatek demolished Rebecca Sramkova 6-0 6-2 within the Australian Open second spherical, on-court interviewer Jelena Dokic requested the Pole to charge Melbourne’s espresso. 

“How does the coffee in Melbourne compare to the rest of the world?” Dokic requested.

“Well I got to say in Sydney I found better coffee shops,” the 23-year-old stated whereas laughing.

And that is when the gang immediately reacted. 

The five-time Grand Slam winner tried to backtrack on her assertion.

“No guys, the thing is, it’s not easy to fall asleep during a grand slam so my coffee needs to be lower, so I didn’t do the right research… Sorry for my answer,” she stated.

The No. 2 seed made a lightning begin to her second-round match, profitable the opening seven video games for a dominant 6-0 1-0 lead.

In her subsequent match, the previous world No. 1 performs towards Emma Raducanu. 

Going into the match, Swiatek has a 3-0 head-to-head document and has but to lose a set in matches towards the 2021 US Open champion.
