Max Purcell claims that he “unknowingly” acquired an IV infusion of nutritional vitamins that exceeded the allowed restrict of 100ml and that he was the one who voluntarily reached out to the ITIA to clarify what occurred.

On Monday, the ITIA introduced that the two-time Grand Slam champion in doubles accepted a provisional suspension on December twelfth.

For the reason that anti-doping company clarified that the doubles world No. 12 wasn’t caught in doing something unlawful however that he was the one who contacted them, it was clear from the beginning that he most likely unknowingly and unintentionally took a prohibited substance.

And shortly after, Purcell broke his silence.

In response to the 26-year-old, he underlined to the clinic that he wasn’t allowed to take a vitamin infusion above 100ml and that he thought the whole lot could be in step with laws.

Purcell: After seeing that it was over the 100ml restrict, I contacted the ITIA and voluntarily accepted a suspension

“As announced by the ITIA today, I have voluntarily accepted a provisional suspension since I unknowingly received an IV infusion of vitamins above the allowable limit of 100 ml,” the Australian tennis star stated.

“Until last week when I received medical records from a clinic showing that the amount of an IVI had received was above 100 ml, I was fully convinced that I had done everything to ensure that I had followed the WADA regulations and methods.

“However the information present that the IV was over the 100ml restrict, regardless that I advised the clinic that I used to be knowledgeable athlete and wanted the IV to be underneath 100ml.”

In the same message, Purcell said he was “devastated” because he “prides” himself on being a clear athlete.

Proper now, there are not any indications when the 2024 US Open doubles winner shall be allowed to return to motion.

Contemplating how his case has gone to date, it might be shocking to see him obtain a extreme punishment.
