Worldwide recruits Anastasiia Grechkina and Sebastianna Scilipoti have signed their nationwide letters of intent and can be a part of the Pepperdine girls’s tennis crew within the spring of 2025.
The Wavers may have eight girls on the roster this new yr, together with six newcomers. Scilipoti, of Geneva, Switzerland, and Grechkina, of Moscow, Russia, will bolster a recruiting class that has been rated the perfect mid-major class and the fifth-best within the nation, in response to the Tennis Recruiting Community
“Sebastianna and Anastasiia are two outstanding additions to our program. Both have enjoyed success at the elite level on the professional and junior tour, but more importantly, they are a great fit for our tennis. They will thrive in Malibu!” stated Tassilo Schmid.
And talking of Schmid, teh Waves Athletics has named Tassilo because the interim head coach for girls’s tennis, introduced by athletic director Tanner Gardner.
“We are thrilled to have Coach Schmid lead our women’s tennis program moving forward. We have a talented group of student-athletes striving to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament this spring, and I know Schmid will do an outstanding job leading the charge. Tassy has dedicated six years of excellence and loyalty to our men’s tennis program. He understands the Pepperdine culture and the unique values that make our university special. And he is ready to step up! I am grateful to work as partners as we continue to advance our tennis,” stated Gardner.

Schmid, who most not too long ago served because the affiliate head coach of the Waves males’s crew, stated in introducing himself:
“First and foremost, I want to thank Tanner Gardner for trusting me with this incredible opportunity. It is a privilege to take on this new role leading the Pepperdine women’s tennis team. I look forward to building on the strong foundation that Per has created by bringing my vision and energy to the program. I am thrilled to continue our partnership with Adam Schaechterle, whose mentorship has been instrumental in my growth over the past six years.”
