Novak Djokovic has accepted Channel 9 host Tony Jones’ apology after publicly revealing that he ditched an on-court interview on the Australian Open after feeling disrespected.

When he arrived within the press room – earlier than receiving any questions – Djokovic began by clarifying that he purposely averted an on-court interview with Channel 9 as a result of he felt one in every of their hosts made some insulting remarks. 

A few days earlier, Jones – whereas on air and with Serbian followers standing behind him – mentioned that they have been chanting “Novak, he’s overrated” and “Novak’s a has-been.”

Shortly after the press was over, the host, in addition to Channel 9, apologized.

“Novak acknowledges the apology has been given in public as requested, and is now moving on and focusing on his next match,” a press release launched by means of Tennis Australia mentioned. 

How Jones apologized to Djokovic?

In line with the host, he was joking and completely did not imply to disrespect the file 24-time Grand Slam champion or his followers.

In his message, the host additionally immediately apologized to Serbian followers and repeated that he was solely joking and did not intend to disrespect them.
