Rune: I battled influenza, a shoulder damage 

“Looking back I think it was too early to play after my influenza last week,” the world No. 12 wrote on X following his defeat.

“My shoulder was not working and the whole body seemed extremely vulnerable. I will take the time and get proper rest now. 

“When the physique isn’t there, the mind shuts down and I’m simply very sorry I couldn’t ship what I wished on courtroom in the present day. Sorry Argentina.”

Last week, Rune competed at the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam.

There, he beat Lorenzo Sonego in his opening match before falling short to Pedro Martinez in the round-of-16.

After that match, the Dane’s mother revealed that her son got a bad flu during the Davis Cup weekend.

Rune will now probably take some time to get healthy again before returning to action.
