In a dialog with Valeria Lipovetsky on her podcast, tennis star Genie Bouchard confirmed that she ended her year-and-a-half-long relationship with Jack Brinkley-Cook dinner, son of the well-known mannequin Christie Brinkley.

Through the podcast, Lipovetsky requested Bouchard to mirror on the breakup, with out particularly naming her ex, and her ideas on the connection, which had been public since October 2022 and have become Instagram official in September 2023.

“It just wasn’t the right fit”

Bouchard confirmed the top of the connection, sharing that whereas it had been a big chapter of her life, it finally wasn’t the fitting match. “I feel great,” the 2014 Wimbledon finalist admitted. “Obviously, I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I’m 30 now,’ but you gotta do what’s right for you. It ended well, it ended fine.” Regardless of the breakup, Bouchard expressed optimism, feeling extra in tune with herself now. “I feel a little more authentic to myself right now. I’m very excited and optimistic about the future. I’m in my new single girl phase.”

Embracing independence

When requested if she was keen to leap into a brand new relationship or if she was embracing her single life, Bouchard was clear: she’s having fun with her independence. “I feel really content with myself. I don’t feel the need to rush into something else. I really am enjoying being by myself, being independent.”

Bouchard went on to clarify how, even throughout her previous relationships, she usually discovered herself alone on account of her rigorous tennis schedule and fixed touring. “In my 20s, I dated, but I also had long periods of being single… even when I was in a relationship, I was alone most of the time because I’m traveling. It was very long-distance.”

This time, Bouchard is taking the chance to reconnect with herself and the unbiased facet of her persona that she feels typically will get overshadowed in relationships.

A vivid future forward

Genie Bouchard’s outlook on the longer term is undeniably optimistic. She’s getting into this new chapter of her life with confidence, a way of self-assurance, and pleasure for what lies forward. The breakup has opened the door for Bouchard to concentrate on herself, her profession, and regardless of the future holds. For now, Bouchard is embracing her “single girl phase” and, by all appearances, is prospering.
