Contemplating how properly Gauff performed in late 2024 and early 2025, she was broadly considered one of many prime favorites for the Australian Open.

Often, the world No. 3 hears it from her critics and doubters after such performances.

Gauff requested how she would protect herself from criticism

“I suppose you simply have to appreciate that a lot of the web coaches by no means coached anybody at my degree or by no means performed. So it is a type of issues,” the top-ranked American female tennis player said.

“It is simpler to look on the skin, you already know, all these issues when you’re taking part in and also you’re commentating.

“You’ll hear not commentators, but people saying: ‘Oh, she should have made this or he should have made that’. Even when I’m watching, I do that. Obviously when you’re out there, it’s different.”

After profitable the 2023 US Open for her first Grand Slam title, Gauff famously hit again at her critics and doubters by revealing that she stored the receipts and used that as a motivation to show them fallacious.

In the meantime, the 20-year-old will now most likely take a while to relaxation earlier than kicking off her preparation for the Center East swing, which begins in early February.
