The two-time Slam champion desires to proceed on the extent proven within the earlier season, thus confirming himself because the participant to beat on the Tour.

His coach Simone Vagnozzi, in an interview with Italian media Gazzetta dello Sport, analyzed what he expects from the Australian marketing campaign, focusing – inevitably – on the doping subject and the sentence that the CAS should specific.

“We start immediately with a great challenge. A tough opponent but the important thing is that Jannik gives it his all as always. And above all that he has fun. With the awareness that Jannik hasn’t done anything wrong, he hasn’t made any mistakes.

Furthermore, tennis is a sport that teaches you to face different situations, solve problems. To play tennis you have to learn to adapt to what happens on the court and that’s what he did,” he defined.

Vagnozzi then added: “We have tried to always stay focused on the matches, on the programs, on the training. Trying to talk as little as possible about the situation. This is what we will continue to do in the coming months, starting with this Slam which for Jannik, for us, is important. These are the things we can control, everything else doesn’t depend on us.”

As we mentioned, Jannik failed two doping checks carried out through the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, testing constructive for Clostebol. The Italian was first acquitted by the unbiased ITIA tribunal, however – as we now know – WADA appealed to the CAS in Lausanne, asking for 1-2 years of suspension.
